Mari Pepa & Raquel preparing Spanish food

Mari Pepa and Raquel, mother-to-daughter tradition

“I’m a very affable and sentimental person. I consider myself a great conversationalist, and sharing is a way of life for me.”

Let us introduce you to Mari Pepa, one of Sazón’s Spanish local cooks. Though there’s no need for a more detailed introduction beyond the words she has accurately used to define herself. A good person willing to share her time, her knowledge, the best Spanish food, and great experiences.

Mari Pepa’s property is large enough for all her sons and daughters to have their own house on the finca. This allows the whole family to enjoy each other’s company and be close by for whatever may come up. That is the reason why Raquel accompanies her beloved mother in her culinary adventure, which consists of preparing an exquisite menu based on family recipes, quality products, and lots of love – true Spanish food! And of course, to share it with all those who wish to discover the charms and enchantment of their cuisine in the heart of Malaga region. Would you come with us to discover the gastronomic and sensorial journey created by this mother-daughter duo?

Delicious Spanish food in a stately house

A stunning background for a superb experience

“It came into my family’s hands thanks to a chance meeting between my father-in-law and a man who unknowingly gave him a winning lottery ticket.”

What Mari Pepa offers is not just about enjoying exquisite Spanish food. The setting and ambience of her house is also an attraction that will positively enhance the final experience. Our diner host opens the doors of her stately home, the summer residence of a former mayor of Malaga.

The house’s floors (a beautiful checkerboard pattern) and the vegetation of the finca have been preserved just as they were when the house was built in the 19th century. The English influence on this beautiful property can be noticed in almost every corner. On the one hand, plants and trees were, apparently, a gift from an English noblewoman to this mayor. And on the other hand, Mari Pepa’s taste for decoration, which is reflected in countless small details and ornaments from that country. In addition, the Malaga and Andalusian charm combines harmoniously in every part of this stately house.

Tasty Spanish food cooked with loving care

“My love for cooking dates back to my childhood, and it’s something I’ve continued throughout my life.”

At Mari Pepa’s home we can feel the power of tradition. Not only in the house itself, but also and mainly in the recipes she prepares along with her beloved daughter Raquel. Following the recipes of her mother and grandmothers, Mari Pepa tries to continue the family culinary tradition together with another generation, her daughter Raquel. Together, sharing special moments in the kitchen, they take pleasure in every delicacy they prepare for their dinner guests.

To start with, sheep cheese from the Sierra de Malaga, Serrano ham and seasoned avocado from the Costa Tropical of Granada. Then, a typical cold soup, very representative of Spanish summer food, Ajoblanco. The main course is a tasty paella. Up to you to choose between the main ingredient: meat or fish. And to finish this feast of Spanish flavours, a delicious flan (creme caramel), one of the most common desserts in Spanish food. A true treat!
